The thought struck me not long ago that I am living in my NOW. It’s not tomorrow. It’s not yesterday. It is today, now. Your now isn’t yesterday with all the frustration and stress you faced, or what awaits you tomorrow. Your now is right this moment.
Even with uncertainty in the world today and the challenges of everyday living, let’s be sure we’re living in our now. Now is not tomorrow, what it holds or even what it may look like. It is now, today.
I’m sure you’re familiar with Matthew 6:34 (NASB) which speaks to living in our now. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
It reminds us to live in our now, our today. Granted, in our world we need to map out plans for our week. This is especially true if you go to school or you work and have children with their individual activities. But daily, no matter what your schedule, you and I can live in our now.
Your NOW is today, where you are right now, even in the midst of life around you. Your now doesn’t borrow from tomorrow because tomorrow hasn’t come. Your now is now. One of the most important aspects of our now is you and you have the ability to create a power-infused-with God’s-Word-and-His-reality-of-living-big-in-me now or let situations/circumstances destroy your peace and confidence in Him.
Let’s not ‘borrow’ from tomorrow, thus putting a deficit on our now. Let’s not carry more care and worry today. Let’s release what we can’t control, and rest (trust) in His goodness and provision to meet our needs. Hebrews 11:1 talks about faith, but I like to read the first few words as “NOW faith”. Faith for right not. Faith for right this minute in my life when I feel everything is falling apart around me.
Where are you today? Are you walking in your now? You can as you daily, moment by moment become more aware of God’s love and grace actively working in your heart. You can as you draw on His Word for the strength and peace you need throughout your day.
That’s living in your NOW.
