Living On God’s Words Devotion

We’ve shared scriptures helping you plant the Word into your heart and mind. The more you renew your mind with the Word, the more you understand the necessity of living on God’s Words.

Since the beginning of speech, words were important; in fact, necessary in conveying thoughts and communicating. Words convey ideas, thoughts, persuasions, and feelings. Words convey love, care, concern, and even worry. Even before Adam and Eve, God spoke! He spoke the world and everything in it into existence through His words. Genesis 1:3, ESV, says “And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”

Words can build up or tear down. Proverbs 15:1, ESV says, “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Once words are spoken you can’t take them back, even if the speaker says they really didn’t mean it. It’s important for us to speak good words, helpful words, encouraging words, not hateful or harmful words, and we certainly know there’s plenty of those across the airwaves each day.

Note how Jesus spoke, and copy Him. Let’s speak good words to build up those who hear us, to encourage others in God’s goodness.

When Jesus was tempted in the desert, the devil enticed him with words. But the response Jesus gave is an example for us. Matthew 4:4, ESV, says “But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Here’s where planting the Word into your heart and mind enables you to live strong in this world. You will speak what is in your heart, so be sure to plant the Word and speak it into your world because you’ll speak God’s words, full of life, hope, potential, and all that He is. You’ll change your life by your words.
