How’s your believing monitor? Does it fluctuate a lot? One day it’s high on believing but the next day or so you’re feeling you just don’t believe enough?
I think we’ve all been there, and unfortunately most believers have been taught that Mark 9:23 really means you can’t have your miracle if YOU can’t believe. Here is what the verse is: “Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
I have learned that the Greek structure of the verse is not saying what we’ve always thought it did. The Greek makes it clear by actually saying, “Can you believe that all things are possible to Him [Jesus] who is always believing?”
There is a world of difference in the meaning of this verse, but the Greek is the best translation. As Joseph Prince explains,” it’s not about how well or how much you can believe, but WHO you believe.” So then, WHO do you believe? He reminds us that Jesus is the only one whose faith is always constant and never waivers! Aren’t we thankful for that? His faith never fails!
So, what is the bottom line for us? Do we have to muster up enough faith to believe? No. Our faith isn’t to be in our faith, but in Him who is always faithful, always believes, and always wants to do good for you and I!
I trust your believing monitor has increased and will stay strong because your faith is IN HIM.
