Making Preparations Devotion

Whenever you plan a vacation or trip, you need to make preparations. You plan where you’ll go, what you’ll need to take, what you want to see on your trip. You pack your car, and off you go.

I thought about this in terms on preparing for Christmas, and I wondered about the preparations we make for this special holiday. Do we just see it as just a holiday, a time of gift-giving, or do we enter into Christmas with praise and worship, thanking God for sending Jesus for us?

Whether we’re celebrating Christmas, another holiday, or any other day, let’s prepare our hearts in thanksgiving and praise for a God who loves us and who has given us His Son, Jesus. Let’s remember God’s encouragement to Israel as they prepared to enter the promised land – “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you” (Deut. 31:6, ESV).

Let’s prepare our hearts with God’s Word. Let’s prepare our hearts with praise. Let’s prepare our hearts and minds with His promises.

As you prepare and look ahead, remember He will not leave you or forsake you—ever. Yes, it’s time to make preparations so you can enjoy all that is ahead.
