It’s Springtime and the flowers are definitely in bloom! Those beautiful bouquets of color required lots of water to encourage and enhance their growth and display their beauty around us. Flowers as well as other plants all need water. People need water as I’m sure you’ve heard from the medical field—8 glasses a day preferably. And we know water hydrates our bodies and keeps everything functioning just as water is vital for plants and flowers.
So how does water equate spiritually our lives? There’s the water of the Word (Ephesians 5:26). Then, in Isaiah 44:3, God also promised “I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.” Spiritual water is just as important in our lives.
I remember a verse being shared in a theology class many years ago, and I’ve never forgotten it. Proverbs 11:25, ESV states “Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.” ‘He who water will himself be watered’ as King James version states it. There are blessings to ‘watering’ others.
I see each of us as spring of living water, a reservoir, able to pour life and hope to others around us. You don’t have to be a theologian to give hope and encouragement to someone. Every time you share God’s love, you’re watering someone’s life. Every time you encouragement someone with Hope, you’re watering their life.
You’re the reservoir so share God’s love and hope with the world.
