Just A Thought
June 30, 2023We all need times of refreshing, of regaining our strength, renewing our minds and bodies.
My husband and I enjoy times of getting away from our usual activity and visiting new locations or going back to some of our favorite locations. I know some who haven’t had or taken a vacation somewhere in many, many years. Sometimes just a 3-day holiday can be refreshing.
While getting away for a vacation can give us a break from our busy schedules of home, work, and family, we also need to have a time of spiritual refreshing—renewing our minds. We can refresh our physical bodies, but let’s not neglect refreshing our spirits.
When we refresh our minds in the promises of God and feed our faith, we’re renewing ourselves. We’re reminding ourselves of what God has done for us—what Jesus has provided. Sometimes we can get so caught up in our busy lives we forget to stop and take time to regain spiritual strength and let hope arise.
Maybe that’s why the prophet Isaiah put it this way in Isaiah 40:31, NIV – “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”
That sounds like a good prescription for hope because it will enable you to have renewed spiritual strength. Then you can soar high above the obstacles on earth. You can run the race of faith and not grow weary or disillusioned and worn out; and you can walk strong and not be fainthearted. Let’s put this into practice each day.
