Just A Thought
July 21, 2023I’m sure you’ve heard people respond with “oh, I hope so!” to encouragement you or others may have shared with them. We need to encourage one another. When people, believers included, respond is with those particular words “oh, I hope so”, I’m hopeful it is mixed with faith and the Word. If it isn’t, then I wonder if it’s just wishful hoping.
Wishful hoping is just wishing with no solid foundation. It will leave you with doubts and fears about whatever the situation is you’re hoping will be resolved. So then, how do we get from the negative side to the positive provisions of Biblical hope?
Have you recognized that hope is optimistic? Look at Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Hope IS optimistic. Hope will always push you forward with expectation of good things ahead. Hope will not disappoint, especially when you anchor it in God’s promises and His Word.
In Matthew 9, Jesus encountered blind men who requested His mercy and to be able to see. Jesus asked them if they wanted to be healed to which they responded ‘yes’. When he touched their eyes, He declared, “According to your faith be it unto you” …
Their faith was optimistic. They were hopeful. They believed. They received their sight and broadcast their healing. They demonstrated optimistic hope which gave them optimistic faith.
Let your hope for God’s goodness, healing—whatever you need—be so optimistic that what you are expecting is at your doorstep.
