Just A Thought
September 22, 2023Throughout the Old Testament, as well as the New Testament, we are encouraged to continue recalling God’s goodness in our lives (Psalm 100:5, 107:1). We’re to keep it before our eyes (Proverbs 4:21). We’re to give ourselves a talking-to when we’re down (Psalm 42:5). We’re to encourage ourselves not to forget but to REMEMBER God’s Goodness. Why? Because we’re forgetful people.
So often we let the cares of the world strangle out hope in God. We let everything that’s going on in our lives take on a bigger dimension than the power of God’s Word. And, just so you don’t feel singled out, it can happen to everyone, believer and non-believer. I know people who are currently dealing with many situations that press in on the
Lamentations 3:21, ESV -But I call to mind, and therefore I have hope. The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
I know people who are and have gone through some tough times. They’re still in the midst of them, yet they won’t give in to the difficulties but daily, and sometimes, moment-by-moment recall and rely on God’s Word, His promises. They’ve seen His faithfulness so many times. They have faith. They have hope in God’s faithfulness and love, so that’s where they go when the going gets tough.
They call to mind. They REMIND themselves of all that God has done. They remind themselves they’re His beloved child, and He is taken care of them and those they love. They may not like the particular situation at the moment, but also know it, too, shall pass; and they’ll see God’s goodness shine through soon.
That’s how you activate the Word in your everyday life. That’s how your HOPE grows in God’s faithfulness and love. Keep His Word before you. Speak His Word continually, reminding yourself of what is true…reminding yourself you, too, shall grow beyond this time and see God’s goodness, faithfulness, and fulfillment in your life.
