Knowing The HOPE We Have In The Lord

Did you know your heart has eyes? That’s what Paul tells us in Ephesians 1:18, NIV – “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.”

Too often we don’t see what our heart is showing us. We see things with our eyes, so we’re observing the world, the outward appearance of our world. Our view stops with material things. Unless we have x-ray vision, we can’t see inside people or objects, thus we’re stuck in seeing only what our eyes display to us. Spiritually that causes us to be limited and only able to see one level of reality. Yes, there are textures and dimensions in the one level we perceive through eyesight, but it stops there.

Paul wants believers and those following God’s love to SEE with new eyesight–using the eyes of our hearts. He desires those eyes will receive illumination to be able to not only see but know the HOPE God has called us into and has placed within us. This new eyesight reaches into God’s riches, the truth in His Word, and draws His truth and promises into our view. That’s when we can read His Word, receive His promises for us, and keep them in our heart, from where we truly believe.

If you want to change how you believe, then plant His truth, His Word in your heart. The more we do this, the more we see God’s HOPE for us. And when we receive that hope, we are confident of His love and goodness for us, the riches of His provision to us (our inheritance). It’s time to get grounded in His promises, His Word, so our eyes see everything He has for us. That’s our hope–His provisions manifesting in our lives in fullness. His HOPE in you is what the world needs to see through you.
