Activating God’s Grace In Our Lives

So many believers know the Bible—or parts of it at least—and believe it; yet many do not put the power of the Word into action in their life. You can read all you want about how to swim, but until you put into practice what you’ve read on how to do it, and get in the water, you won’t be swimming.

That’s how it is with making God’s Word real and active in your life. I like how Clint Byars puts it. “Anything you learn but are not actively seeking to put into practice will most likely not bear fruit in your life. But if you read/listen intending to do something with what you’re learning, your heart will be more open to the grace necessary to walk it out. You then can live intentionally under the transformative power of grace.”

Here’s where the rubber meets the road for each of us. We can know the Word, but not walk in the Word or see the power of God’s Word manifesting in our lives if we don’t put it into action. Years back I taught a Faith-In-Action seminar and it included this truth: putting our faith in God’s Word, and walking in it to see the powerful manifestation of God in our midst.

Did you also catch two important aspects from Clint’s quote? The more you intend to do something with what you learn in the Word, your HEART will be more open to the GRACE necessary to walk it out. We read the Word with our physical eyes as well as the eyes of our heart (from which we believe). Our heart persuades our mind to believe and trust the Word. That’s when the power of God’s grace enables us to walk according to the Word we’re putting in our hearts/minds. Do you see the connections?

Let’s do more than just read Bible words. Let’s read the Word with the intent to put it into practice. It’ll change our lives and the lives of others. Trust His Word and His Grace to enable His power and truth to be more than words but actions in your life.
