What we believe about ourselves is important and can change the course of our life. So, let me ask you this question: What do you believe about yourself? Are you stuck believing the negative, condemning words others have pushed on you? Words that hurt and condemn like who do you think you are? Have you forgotten all the mistakes you’ve made? Or maybe some of your own unforgiving thoughts like things will just never get better. I’ve just got to accept my lot because this is how it will always be.
It’s time to think differently. It’s time to end the words of negativity, discouragement, and accusation because those lead to depression and sadness.
It’s time to break free. Psalm 107:13-14 says “Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke their chains in pieces.”
Okay, so how do you break free from the accusations and condemning judgment that has assaulted you? One thing is not to believe lies about yourself. Lies that either you’ve said/thought or someone else has thrown on you. It is important that as a believer you know your identity in Christ. When Jesus met the woman at the well, He didn’t condemn her. He knew very well what she had done and how her life was, but He didn’t condemn her but offered her hope and salvation. (Read John 4:5-30)
She needed to change her thinking and what she believed. Because Jesus showed her love and acceptance, her life changed; so much so she began to preach to everyone else in town.
Just as Jesus showed her, He doesn’t want you continuing to live in a prison of accusation, fear, or guilt or any other bondage that is trying to hold and defeat you. It’s time to open your heart to believe His plan and life for you is one of overflowing and abundant joy and peace.
Don’t let your thoughts (or past actions) keep you in prison. He’s already set you FREE. Walk in His provisions!
