Covered And Delivered

I recall hearing and reading various accounts from people across the United States who were in the paths of terrible, destructive tornadoes or floods and were delivered. Whether it’s a tornado, a war, a bombing, or other terrible action, deliverance is needed. In the practical, we should know what to do if confronted in these events, but first and foremost, we need to apply the Word of God.

That’s why we’re looking at Psalm 91 to be instructed, encouraged, and strengthened.

King David made a proclamation that included Israel during his time but today we can apply the same powerful truth to our lives in. Look at Psalm 91:2-8 ESV. “I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.”

Notice that God’s protection is guaranteed no matter what transpires around us. What was meant to be a ‘snare’, or a world-wide pestilence—plague or infectious disease—or evil darkness encroaching around you, they cannot be successful against you because the Lord is your fortress, your defense, your safe place. He’s your buckler (close combat fighting) and shield (defensive). You also have the weapon of the Word to use: the shield of faith, the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17). You can rest secure under His wings in the midst of horrible things.

When things come against you, don’t shriek in terror but stand firm on God’s Word, wielding the Word. Fill your mind and heart with His presence and promises, and you’ll experience deliverance and peace in the midst of messes.
