If You Knew the Gift of God

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God,

and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’

you would have asked Him,

and He would have given you living water.”

(John 4:10 NASB)

Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well, “If you knew the gift of God.” Do you know the gift of God? Certainly, the gift of God refers to salvation as Paul says in Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (NASB). God’s gift to us is eternal life through Jesus. It’s a free gift to all who will accept it. You must reach out and take a gift. Do you know this gift?

Going a step farther, we can see the gift of God in Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast” (NASB). Salvation comes through grace, the gift of God. Grace Is a huge word. Its is God’s unmerited favor.

Grace is more than just God’s favor on us. It is ability, enablement, and power. 2 Corinthians 12:9 states, “And He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’ Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.” (NASB)

God’s gift of grace is God’s gift of Jesus to the world. Grace is sufficient for any and every obstacle you face today or ever will face in life. Grace overcomes every trial and every weakness in your life. Grace is the core of the New Covenant by which the believer lives. We are no longer under the law but under grace. Grace entered when Jesus entered, and He finalized it on the cross. Live by grace which is living water to a thirsty world and a thirsty believer.
