We’ve been looking more closely at Psalm 91 to understand what we can do as believers when we encounter terrible things. You’ll recall from verses 1-2 that the starting place for us is dwelling in God’s presence (verse 1). We dwell, that is, abide, live by faith through the finished work of Jesus for us (and all who believe). I’m reminded of the Cajun chef on TV some time ago, Justin Elmer Wilson, because he was fond of saying his cajun-inspired food was delicious because he “gha-rawn-tee it” (guaranteed). I guarantee you’ll enjoy the power of all we discover in this psalm.

As we dig further into the meat of the Word in Psalm 91, you’ll have a greater understanding of the protection of Psalm 91 as you put this psalm into practice in your daily life. It’s when we deviate from our position of trust-faith that we’re subject to the doubts and fears in the world. Let’s anchor ourselves in all that God has promised and provided for us.

Notice in verses 9-13, as you dwell in God’s presence, settled and anchored, you’re promised that no evil shall befall you. It’s not going to come because His angels are standing over you to protect and deliver you. These verses show there isn’t anything the Lord won’t deliver us from.

This is your protection, and it’s wrapped up in Jesus. He died for you but resurrected so you could have a life full of His goodness, grace, love, peace, joy, and protection, free from worries, fears, dangers. Yes, there can be danger around you, but you are assured/guaranteed of His protection and deliverance in these powerful verses.

Psalm 91 is an Old Testament chapter with New Testament meaning. God is still the same, and He cares about you. He is your protection, and where you will want to live and dwell as long as you’re on this earth. Yes, it’s time to take the Word and make it part of your everyday confession in faith.
