Creator Jesus Pt. 3

We’ve been looking at Jesus the Word’s involvement in the creation of the universe. God spoke the universe into existence. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1 NASB).

Jesus as the Word was directly involved in the creation of the universe. “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, In these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the world. (Hebrews 1:1, 2 NASB).

The earth was created through the Word and is upheld by the Word. The Word ties everything to existence. For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrew 4:12 NASB).

Did you catch that? The word is living and active, or alive and powerful. So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the purpose for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:11 NASB).

God’s word spoken into the universe is alive and accomplishes His purposes. What does this mean for us. Quantum mechanics finds everything defying common sense. But scripture says the Word of God framed and upholds the world. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible (Hebrews 11:3 NASB).

Since the universe, down to our little space in it, is run by words, then we have the ability to speak God’s words into it as well. Stay tuned for part 4.
