July 22
July 22, 2026We’ve been learning more about the connection between the things we hear and what we allow to be in our hearts. It’s so easy in our world today to just take what is said as truth without weighing it against the truth of God’s Word. Now I’m sure there are a lot of believers who just believe anything someone says, but we must use caution because what is said may not be the truth of what the Word actually says and means. And granted, a lot of confusion can be centered around interpretation. If it is, it’s best to search it out in the Bible and find out exactly what Jesus said or what the Apostle Paul said. And remember that Jesus spoke as one under the Law, yet throughout his teachings, he gave further meaning beyond the law. But those who were under the law didn’t catch it and were at odds with him.
Jesus always pointed to the Father and His heart for people. That’s why he said, ‘if you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father.” (John 14:9)
The Apostle Paul came and amplified what Jesus had come to do: free man from the bondage of sin and bring him into the fullness of everything Jesus accomplished at the Cross.
Our guidebook is always the Bible and the finished work of Jesus. That’s why it’s important to renew our hearing and our minds in everything Jesus accomplished for us, and it includes so much more than salvation, which is first, but also healing, peace, prospering, fulness of joy, etc.
So then, when we renew our thoughts and our mind in God’s Word, we can agree with the Apostle Paul when he said, “The Word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart; that is, the word of faith that we proclaim” (Romans 10:8). Let’s allow His Word to renew our thoughts and enable us to hear more from His Word.
