Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
Many read this verse and think of blessings only in Heaven. Paul points to something even greater: God has blessed us already. The past tense shows that through the finished work of Jesus, every spiritual blessing already belongs to us.
Being in Christ means we share in His blessings right now, in the spiritual realm. We are seated in heavenly places with Him, experiencing His favor, provision, and promise. Every spiritual blessing flows to us, adoption, redemption, wisdom, peace, and every promise God has given. The curse is gone, and God pours out His blessings on all His children. Verses 4–10 of Ephesians 1 expand on these blessings, and every one of them comes because of our position in Christ. Understanding this transforms how we live, pray, and walk each day, knowing that God’s fullness surrounds us now, not just in the future.
Spiritual blessings in Christ do not stay in the spiritual realm, they overflow into our daily lives in tangible ways. When God fills us with wisdom, understanding, and peace, we make better decisions, experience calmer hearts, and navigate challenges with clarity. Redemption and forgiveness restore relationships and release us from guilt that can weigh heavily on our emotions and choices. Adoption into God’s family brings a sense of security, purpose, and belonging that impacts how we interact with others. Even our physical needs often reflect spiritual blessings: provision, health, protection, and opportunities flow naturally when we live under God’s favor. While these blessings are not always material or predictable, God’s spiritual work in us creates a life marked by His guidance, peace, joy, and favor, evidence of His promises in Christ shaping every part of our existence.
Spiritual blessings in Christ include the full range of God’s promises, which provide assurance, guidance, and hope for every believer. When Paul speaks of these blessings, he points to the guarantees God has made through His Word, promises of redemption, eternal life, adoption as His children, guidance through the Spirit, and victory over sin and death. These promises are “yes and amen” in Christ, meaning they are certain, reliable, and fully available to us now. They serve as a spiritual foundation that anchors our faith, strengthens our confidence in God, and shapes how we live each day. Every promise God has made flows to us because of our position in Christ, linking spiritual reality with practical life and giving us assurance that nothing can separate us from His love and provision
