What Renewed Thinking Produces

Since we’re still digging into renewing our minds as believers, let’s look closer at what renewed thinking produces in our lives.

We can make outward changes in our lives, i.e., go on a diet and lose weight, get our hair cut for a new look, get a new wardrobe to look sharper, etc. Those are all outward changes, and can be good in themselves, but when we come to spiritual growth, what inward changes should we make?

This brings us back to the importance of letting the Word of God renew our thinking. When you’re sick, the doctor may give you some medicine to alleviate the illness and get your back to good health. That medicine goes INTO your body and works from the inside out. As you follow the doctor’s order your body is transformed physically from the inside out as the medicine works to kill the illness. The same principle is true for our spiritual lives. The more we take in of the Word, the more renewal of spiritual health we’ll experience.

That’s the power of the Word that works in our lives. Romans 10:8, NKJV, says: “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach).
The word of faith is settled in your heart. You believe it. But your belief needs to be voiced. The Word is near you, and as Roman’s says, it comes from your heart and is spoken in your mouth. You are calling those things which be not as thou they are because faith has been planted in your heart, and it is from your heart that you believe.

Years ago, at a healing service, a couple brought their young son, whose feet were badly deformed. Doctors had given them no hope that his condition would improve. Believing in Jesus’ healing power, the minister laid hands on the boy and prayed, then held his feet and spoke healing in Jesus’ name. Although nothing changed immediately, he encouraged the parents to remain in faith and continue speaking God’s Word over their son’s feet. They obeyed, refusing to be discouraged. After several days, they noticed slight improvement and continued declaring God’s promises in faith. Within a few weeks, their son’s feet became completely normal. Their faith had taken root in their hearts, and because they believed, they continued speaking what they believed until they saw the miracle. They had internalized the Word in their mouths, just as medicine works from the inside out to heal our body. Their son’s feet were totally healed.

This is the power of God’s Word that renews our thinking and produces good things in our lives. Continue to renew your heart and mind in God’s powerful Word.
