Philippians 2:5

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, (NKJV)

Believers carry the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16) and are called to reflect His attitude in every relationship. In Philippians 2:4, Paul emphasizes valuing others as Jesus did, putting their needs alongside our own.

Allowing love to grow in our hearts changes how we act, speak, and respond. Thinking like Christ means adopting His humility, patience, and compassion, and letting those qualities shape our interactions. When we cultivate the mindset of Jesus, our choices and actions begin to mirror His, showing His character to the world. Living this way transforms ordinary moments into opportunities to reflect God’s love and grace in tangible, meaningful ways.

In Philippians 2:5, the word “let” carries significant weight. It functions as a deliberate invitation or command, urging believers to actively choose to adopt the mind of Christ rather than passively hope it happens. Paul does not suggest that having Christ’s mindset occurs automatically; it requires intentional effort, awareness, and cooperation with the Spirit. We have the mind of Christ, spiritually. We must let His mind free to operate in us. We must change our thinking to His thinking.

“Let” signals personal responsibility. It asks each believer to open their heart, allow God’s truth to shape their thoughts, and consciously align their attitudes and decisions with Christ’s example. It emphasizes partnership: God provides the power and pattern through Jesus and the Spirit, but we must intentionally let His mind dwell and guide us. In essence, it’s a call to active participation in spiritual transformation, inviting us to think, feel, and act like Christ in every aspect of life.

We must allow these same attitudes to permeate our hearts to the degree we act like Jesus.
