The Apostle Peter’s encouragement in 2 Peter 3:18 is vital for you today as this New Year begins. “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Just as physical growth is a process, so is spiritual growth. Your born-again spirit is complete, but you need to renew your mind and heart in what Jesus has provided and accomplished for you. You are justified (made righteous) and redeemed through the blood of Jesus by grace--a done deal through the finished work of Jesus. You are now “in” Christ Jesus. Romans 3:24 (NASB) says, “…being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus…” Rejoice and receive a greater revelation this New Year of your justification and redemption in Christ through His grace and provision.
