There are several theological terms in this verse and the next, which we Christians like to throw around and discuss at great length. We humans like to know the details because it does feed the mind. Though I will look at the details, don’t get bogged down in them. Think about how this applies to your life and how can you help others through your knowledge of these details. Smarts are not just in knowledge but also in wisdom. Don’t be “Ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Timothy 3:7). Though we might bring out different points of view on a term, don’t let it bring confusion. “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints” (1 Corinthians 14:33). As in any course of study, look at the terms and look for the truth. It is in knowing the truth where you find freedom.
